My name is Ryan, and this project began after Expedia canceled a hotel reservation that my partner and I had booked months in advance for a special trip to Taormina, Sicily.
We had reserved a room at the iconic Grand Hotel Timeo, a luxury property we planned our entire trip around. Flights were booked, itineraries were finalized, and we had spent months looking forward to what was supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Then, just days before our trip, Expedia informed us that the hotel could not honor our reservation due to overbooking.
By that point, nearly every comparable hotel in Taormina had either sold out or increased dramatically in price. Rooms that were a few thousand dollars when we originally booked were now many times more expensive. Expedia offered solutions, but none of them truly replaced what had been lost: the ability to take the trip we carefully planned at the price and property we had been promised.
As I shared my experience, I discovered I wasn't alone. Travelers around the world have stories of confirmed reservations being canceled, often after airfare, transportation, and other non-refundable plans have already been made.
This site exists to collect those stories, identify patterns, and advocate for greater accountability and transparency in the travel industry. A confirmed reservation should mean something. Travelers deserve to understand the risks, know their rights, and have a place where their experiences are heard.
If this has happened to you, I'd love to hear your story.
